The starring evening of October 6 saw a splendid opening ceremony of the sixth East Asian Games in Tianjin Sports Stadium. The opening ceremony, with the theme of “Share Happiness, Create Splendor”, gave a full display of Chinese characteristics, Tianjin styles, and sports elements. The opening ceremony, featuring decentness, novelty, frugality and eco-friendliness, reached its climax with a rising torch out of light effects.

The opening ceremony highlighted Tianjin Elements and Chinese Characteristics. The ceremony, masterminded and carried out wholly by Tianjin local teams, aptly combined Tianjin distinctive elements, traditional arts, historical culture and folklores. The comprehensive performing incorporating traditional performing arts, gratifying Tianjin local music and dances, Peking opera and Marshal Arts Tai Chi, offered a sumptuous, distinctive and tasty feast.

The one-hour ceremony, short but not simple, underlined the theme of Peace, Friendship, Harmony and Development, and amply unveiled the glamour of Pretty Tianjin. Four chapters, namely, Gathering in Tianjin, Happy Time, Harmonious Melody and Beyond the Dream, made up the ceremony.
