On Afternoon of March 21, the journalist arrives at Tuanbo New City. This is “Tianjin International Tennis Center” under construction, which has 20 competition fields and training fields, including three parts: central competition fields, semifinal competition field and sports club. In the semifinal competition field, this is a round building with about 4000 seats, which is to complete at present. Then, the journalist goes to the neighboring Tianjin Sports Center Velodrome. Looked from afar, this velodrome has a unique overall appearance, really like a helmet of a cyclist placed on a gentle slope. Entering the central competition field, the journalist finds its main engineering has been finished and construction workers are busy in the field center and stand. A working staff introduces: “this modern velodrome is rare in the country, which is a three-story building; the first floor is squash venue with 6 competition fields; the second floor is cycling venue whose tracks are 250-meter-long wooden tracks; the third floor has 3218 seats for audience. We have been carrying out construction work smoothly and will deliver the project for use in May.” As is learned, the city of Tianjin, from April, will hold successively test events participated by Chinese and foreign athletes for many sports, to stage an overall exercise.
