
The journalist learns from the press conference held on December 14 that the 6th East Asian Games will be staged in Tianjin from October 6th to 15th, 2013. The East Asian Games will be the largest international comprehensive sports meeting held in Tianjin, featuring a large scale, high profile, great comprehensiveness, long term, wide distribution of venues and high-level competition etc. At present, preparatory work for the Games is advancing steadily in all aspects.
In terms of organization and leadership, the 6th East Asian Games Organizing Committee (EAGA) established an Executive Board in January 2011 to be fully responsible for the organization and preparation for the Games. Presently, responsible persons of the Executive Board and its internal departments are conducting work according to their duties.
In terms of venue construction, the Executive Board has adjusted some venues and project arrangements according to NOCs’ estimated entries and actual situation. Upon construction and upgrade, all venues will meet competition requirements of the East Asian Games.

In terms of competition preparation, the 6th East Asian Games has been decided to consist of 24 sports and 289 competition events. Technical Delegates have been determined for all competition events, except Basketball. The Executive Board has established a normal work relation with Technical Delegates. A venue-based team framework has been constructed for each competition event. At present, the organizing and preparatory work is progressing in order, with the Sports Entry Guide and Technical Handbook for sports having been compiled and deadlines for entries for the Games having been determined. The Technical Handbook has been confirmed by Technical Delegates appointed by some Asian Federations.
In terms of press propaganda, the emblem, mascot and vision for the Games have been determined. The official website of the 6th East Asian Games and the official website of the host city have been launched for releasing Games-related information, including official news, progress in Games preparations and Games-time news. The Press Operation Guide has been completed to provide detailed introduction to media accreditation, facilities of the Main Press Center, venue interviews, entry and exit policies for equipments of press-photographers, as well as hotels, foods and transportation for journalists. Besides, competition events of the 6th East Asian Games will be broadcasted and reported on China Central Television (CCTV). The site of the Games-time press center has been preliminarily determined.

In terms of reception service, official reception hotels have been preliminarily determined for the Games, including Headquarters Hotel, Delegation Hotel, Technical Officer Hotel, Hotel for the Media and Hotel for Sponsors, more than 10 hotels planned to be used. Picking-up and sending-off services are arranged at airports and railway stations according to practices of other comprehensive international sports meetings.
In terms of medical service, the Health and Medical Service Guide of the 6th East Asian Games is prepared to detail the health and medical work for all delegations. The Guide announces Games-related policies, including entry and exit of medicine and medical equipment, delegation doctor operation filing, medical expense and medical insurance, as well as various health and medical services offered to delegations during the Games period.
In terms of security, the Executive Board Security Department is preparing a master plan and various specific security measures. During the Games period, strict management will be conducted for hotels and venues for athletes, coaches, referees, journalists, governmental officials and sports officers etc, and transportation security measures will be in place to guarantee a smooth transportation for sports teams.
