Measures for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights of the 6th East Asian Games Released in Tianjin

Recently, Measures for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights of the 6th East Asian Games was adopted at the Municipal Government Executive Meeting and has been released. The Measures will come into force on July 1, 2012.

The Measures provides that intellectual property rights of the 6th East Asian Games under protection include: name and domain name of EAGOC; name, emblem, mascot, vision, anthem, flag, torch, medal, trophy, and souvenir etc of the Games; various art performances, propaganda films, computer software, opening ceremony and closing ceremony creative plans etc related to the Games completed by EAGOC on its own or by others on commission; other intellectual achievements with intellectual property rights related to the Games. The aforesaid names also include full names, short names, translated names and abbreviations.

The Measures also states that without permission of EAGOC, any organization or individual may not use the name of EAGOC to conduct activities of raising donations and soliciting patronage etc; any organization or individual shall have the right to report any behavior infringing the intellectual property rights of the 6th East Asian Games.
