Adhering to the basic national policy of environment protection and the strategy of sustainable development, Tianjin strives to develop Green Tianjin construction, develop and utilize clean energy sources, develop circular economy, and promote green consumption and low-carbon life styles. So far, great progress has been made in the construction of an eco-city.

Tianjin enjoys a leading position in China in several fields of new energy technology, such as wind power generation, solar energy PV, and green energy storage. Now, it is on its way of becoming a base of new energy industry in China. A sound wind power industry system has taken shape in Tianjin, making the city a Capital of Wind Energy and a center of world wind power generation industry. The first phase of Dagang Shajingzi Wind Power Generation Project has been put in operation, with a capacity of 100 million Kw•h green power per year, saving 30,000 tons of SCE. Tianjin solar energy PV industry involves many well-known enterprises and research institutions along the whole industry chain, and therefore enjoys remarkable advantages in development. Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city has been listed as one of the first 13 Demonstration Areas of PV Power Concentrated Application in China. The green energy storage industry in Tianjin takes a kernel position in China. A complete lithium-ion battery industry has taken shape in Tianjin, equipped with the only state-level enterprise technology center in the lithium-ionbattery industry in China.

Of all the Chinese cities, Tianjin has the largest scope of geothermal resources utilization in heating, its geothermal heating area accounting for 50% of the total in China. Wantuo Residence Project, the starting area of Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city, has won an award for green construction in China, thereby becoming a model of green eco-construction in China. The construction of the first Lohas Community in China has been started in the Eco-city. The First APEC Low-carbon Town Demonstration Project was started in Tianjin YujiapuFinancial Area. The Second China (Tianjin Binhai) International Eco-city Forum &Expo was held in Binhai New Area, pointing out the direction of low-carbon development in the future.
