History and Abstract

The dance sports is an indoor sports with a high degree of integration of sports and art, also called “international standard ballroom dancing”. It is divided into two categories, ten kinds of dance, ballroom and Latin dance. Standard dances include waltz, tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep; Latin dance include samba, cha-cha, rumba, bullfighting, cowboy. Each of the dances has their own music, dance and style, as well as the sets of actions according to the requirements of the various kinds of dance music and action. The 16th Asian Games (Guangzhou) dancesports first became an official event in 2010.

The venues and equipments

Dancesports competition venues is 23 meters long, 15 meters wide, and splice general sports flooring or plastic flooring, should be non-reflective, non-slip, flat, surrounded by boundaries. The players run counterclockwise, exchange the dance-way line should be over the centerline. The men wear a tuxedo, and the women wear the dress but the ankle in the Ballroom Dancing. Latin dance clothing should have a Latin American style, male and female players clothing must be coordinated, male athletes wear tights or carrot pants and a loose style long-sleeved shirt. Female athletes wear a halter, skirt legs. Men and women dancing shoes and clothing color should be consistent.

Match Rules

The dancesports take preliminaries, rematch, semi-finals and final of the program. The provisions are six level scores with basic technology, musical expression, dance styles, choreography, spot performance and stadium effect in accordance with international criteria.
